Awesome...so far. Very cinematic and atmospheric...awesome locations and scenes. No STALKER, thats for sure.

Gun play is light and definitely not the stronger point of the game, but I dont think its supposed to be.

Graphics are TOP NOTCH and even on my quad rig with Crossfired 4890's I have to turn down the AA a little. Only problem with graphics is that for one the aspect ratio doesnt scale right...running 1680x1050 is not widescreen...running a 22' CRT, so at widescreen resolutions I just adjust my monitors vertical height...it works, but at 1680x1050 I have to set the vertical height to the standard 4:3...1680x1050 not widescreen? I dont know. Also the graphic properties are not adjustable! You can adjust resolution, DX type, and AA/AF type. All the other options like texture resolution, SSAO, shadows, etc are not individually adjustable...even though the options screen shows you what they are at in relation to your "low, medium, high, very high" setting.
In either case, the graphics are definitely top of the line...this IS A PC GAME TO THE FULLEST! DX10 looks absolutely amazing...dont really see how DX11 could look much better sans tessellation, which from screen shots Ive seen doesnt do that much for the game.

Controls and audio are top notch! Awesome voice acting, again, its not a STALKER game like some people would think seeing where it comes from and who was on the development team. Everyone that talks sounds like they are real and actually talking to you...not reading off of a script. Again, top of the line!

Ill report some more in a little while when I get more into it.

Also! I have Advanced Physx on just to see what would happen...I dont know if this detects a Nvidia card or what not, but its not slow at all, and stuff like cloth and props have realistic physics...I dont know if its the Physx or not...but in either case, it runs and runs smooth!

More importantly though, how is the shooting/gameplay. Some review said that the shooting blew...that would pretty much make or break a game for me considering that it is a shooter.

I think the main reason you can't run th game maxed would be your ram. The game's optimal config has 8GB of ram.

This game looks interesting but still waiting for reviews. There's only 3 @ Metacritic on release day which seems weird to me.

Been playing for a bit over an hour so far and the atmosphere in this game is great. You definitely feel like you are struggling to survive (in a good way). Sneaking around having to watch out for trip wires and home made booby traps and alarm systems as well as broken glass and such that can give away your position.

The environments are great and the few stations I've been too all have their own personality to them as well as their inhabitants.

The shooting does remind me a lot of stalkers so far, but I also have some crappy guns atm and they are pretty much made in the metro before everything changed so quality of how they shoot shows. Having ammo as your currency definitely makes you think out your attack or how to get pass mutants/bandits or whatever else you come across.

Graphics and audio are top notch, noticed some small glitches but nothing too big so far.

I am just loving the feeling you get playing it though. Knowing that supplies are tight, have what all is out there in the tunnels and such and you having to survive to get to your destination. Most the time I don't even want to use my flashlight cause it can give away your location if you haven't scouted out the area and just using the natural light that is emitting from these shrooms as well as random lights on in the tunnels. Great sense of it all though.

Its good...not the best but it works, think of the shooting being around STALKER like shooting, certainly not the best, but it does what it is supposed to do.

The actual gameplay is awesome...VERY atmospheric and well done...if I was in a completely dark room, I would be very scared lol!

Damn, xfired 4890s and quad core AND @1600x1200... And you still had to turn it down a bit, that is not too promising. I for one loved the stalker series, and had no problems with the shooting mechanics, it just required some skill. Good review so far, keep 'em coming!

Sounds like I'm picking this up... Steaming it. Stores don't even bother stocking the PC copy near release anymore.
