First human mad cow death in the US

She contracted it in England though. This is going to get spun badly, I think. It's too bad Oprah won't eat hamburgers anymore, we could send her some English beef...

she probably got it in England. Slowly, your brain disintegrates as cells accumulate prion and die. it took her a little over two years to die once the symptoms set in. sad way to go out.

🙁 She was an attractive, young woman, too. Very sad.
And if she was an unattractive, old hag it would be OK, then? Sheesh! You can be so insensitive sometimes!

I do my best! 🙂 Yeah, I admit the fact she was young and pretty touched me a bit more than if she was 60 and looked like Carol Channing.

The Penn & Teller BS! episode on risk did a good job of putting this into perspective -- you're more likely to win the lottery than get Mad Cow, so Please Eat Tasty Animals!

That BS! episode also made it clear that there is no documented link between the disease in cows and humans. Strange but true.

i checked the cdc website after that one and they don't make a connection between the two diseases.

So True.

someone is going to making a lot of money figuring how to test cows without killing them first.

Why it not like people keep the cow as a pet. It is going to get killed anyways so might as well test the cow once it is dead.
