Well, XNA is available for the XBOX 360, but even Microsoft said that currently the functionality wouldn't be great for a program like XBMC. I believe they also said that they did plan on implementing functionality for more application-oriented programming for the 360 though.
However this isn't a hack the average end-user can try-out already, as for now it'll require the King Kong game, a modified DVD firmware or disc-swap (which are both still fairly easy to do), but you will also have to connect the serial port on your Xbox360, compile the code from sources yourself and you'll need kernel 4532 or 4548 (most of you are probably already updated to the patched 4552 kernel - and right now there's no way to downgrade as Microsoft probably blew up an eFuse to prevent kernel downgrades). If you have a kernel below 4532/4548 you can upgrade 'safely' to 4532 using the burnable HD-DVD software update called HD_DVD_10-2006.zip (the readme includes an URL for it on the MS servers, but the file is already offline ... however I'm sure it'll still out there somewhere, the md5 is cd4db8e2c94266ab73513c361dd5b8f6).

Sounds like we'll still have to wait a bit till we get to the level of XBMC.

It's right there on the front of the homepage. So hopefully this will lead to as much home brew development on the Xbox360 as there was on the Xbox![]()
Crossing fingers... I have both xboxes and I would love XBMC on my 360.

There's already a DVD firmware hack that is used almost exclusively for pirating.
This at least allows consumers to mod their 360s with useful programs like XBMC.

Except that this exploit requires a modded DVD drive ...
That said, FS: Modded 360 Premium because I don't have time to play it.

When did we start talking about modifications? I asked about pirating, you said you could "back up" games for a while now. I don't care if people mod their XBOX, I care when people steal software and cause headaches for us old-fashioned people who believe in morals and that a person should get paid for the work they do, no matter how easy it is to steal.Originally posted by: MercenaryForHire
Oh, you're one of those people who believes there can't be any value to modifications. Feel free to blur your vision further if that's the case - I suggest a sixty-millimeter Howitzer.Originally posted by: blurredvision
