oh man, for a second i thought it was the 55nm version, its only the extra shaders model with the same name.. the 55nm version will come later...

So no, this is NOT the GTX260+ as far as I can tell, its the GTX260 with extra shaders silently released under the same name (making this the THIRD nvidia card to have a silent shader increase on the same name... this year) the GTX260+ will come some weeks later and will be 55nm

Oh, and they are gonna release an "updated" 9800GTX+ which is slightly faster then the current 9800GTX+....

I hate nvidia's naming, on the other hand, that causes some of their cards to be grossly over priced, while others are grossly under priced, and in the end, the best bang for the buck could be had from them IF you go your degree in nvidiology. (eg, the 9800GT today for example, @ 110$)

also, please post a google translation link:

This is exactly what happened with the G80 8800GTS. A 80nm 112sp version (SSC) was released. And then, very shortly after, 65nm G92 8800GT with some core refinements.

Is this going to be more expensive than the current GTX260? If so, what an utterly terrible 'refresh' (2fps....) and if it is the same price, it is still not exciting. Lets see a 55nm GTX280/60 with higher clocks first.

Actually, IIRC the 8800GT was launched before the the 8800GTS SSC.

...not that it really matters, but I was under the impression that the first G200 based 55nm "GT206" core was only slated for the end of Q4 launch. ...I'm thinking sometime right around Black Friday.

Yah exactly. lol. here is the XS thread on it, people are saying, "thanks nvidia for convicing me to get a 4870" :)

An odd response really. It would really have to depend on price IMO. It's too bad that the GTX 260 Gold appears to be a hopped up GTX 260 as opposed to a toned down GTX 280. Based on the dual 6-pin power connectors, I'm assuming that it also has the power regulation as the GTX 260 and not a GTX 280. This will probably prevent the GTX 260 Gold from clocking as high as most GTX 280s.

note the difference in number and type of power MOSFETs on the two cards:

260 (192SP) PCB shot:

Another possibly interesting thing I noticed on those PCB shots is that the core is marked as G200-300-A2 and G200-100-A2 for the GTX 280 and 260 respectively. I wonder if a 216SP core was planned all along as the GT200-200-A2 core...

AFAIK there never was a GTX 260+. That was the moniker that people attributed to it*, after seeing the 9800 GTX become the GTX+. *IT, being the then-rumored GTX 260 refresh.
