First GeForce 6200 AGP card....

No mention of the Turbocache feature on the PCI-E version either. I thought they would be touting that for the PCI-E versions.

The 6200 with turbo cache is a different chip all together. So in all there are 4 6200s. The 128bit PCIe verison, the 128bit AGP version, the 64bit turbo cache version, and the 32bit turbo cache version. Both turbo cache cards are PCIe also.

The 6200 AGP is going to be a great low end video card.

If they manage to come out with any versions with a passive cooler, it would be a perfect HTPC card, especially once PureVideo matures.

should have no probs with passive i would have thought, it's only a low end piece and usually they're looking 2 keep the profit margins as high as possible there, & active cooling=more xpensive & almost as importantly more 2 go wrong=more returns...

There are also a few more "variants". All the NV43 (non-turbocache) 6200s can have either 64 bit or 128 bit memory with 128 or 256 MB of memory. The NV44 (turbocache) 6200s are as you said 64bit and 32bit. Also, the memory can speeds can range from 500 MHz ro 550MHz. Lots of options! 😉

They show variable memory speed of 550/500/450, can't tell which they went with.
Is this board modifiable to 8 pipes?

Avoid Chaintech like the plague! But especially for the 6200 -> 6600 mod, there is someone on the xtremesystems.org forum that tried the mod on it, and he's the only person thus far that I've heard had the mod (on a PCI-E). Supposedly it doesn't work for AGP for whatever reason. I'm assuming that Chaintech made a "value" PCB for this card and didn't include room to be able to accomidate unlocking the extra pipes.

Edit: From what I've read, the 6200 -> 6600 mod hasn't worked on any AGP yet. But who knows the reason why. My guess would be that the boards of a slightly different specification that isn't quite what is needed to unlock the pipes. I think it would be best to stick with a company that looks like they use the same PCB for their 6200 as their 6600 as that may improve your chances. Good luck!

Also, the Chaintech cards come in a bunch of lower end variants. The 128 meg Chaintech 6200 is 64bit! While the 256 meg Chaintech 6200 uses 500 MHz ram! Make sure you know what you're getting if that's fine with you.

Good God, when are manufacturers going to stop making 64 bit cards? It makes things SO much more confusing trying to sort the 64 bit cards from the 128 bit ones. It can't cost that much more to make the 128 bit cards these days anyhow.
