I recently just acquired this so I decided to bring it out and test it at the local gun range. Holy crap that was fun. I bought about 200 bullets thinking I wasn't gonna use that much and I used about 160 rounds. :D

Man, some of those guys there are hardcore. A guy right by me who look like he was some gangster had a Uzi he was shooting. It was funny since he had his bandana sideways on his head and one of his pants legs rolled up. One of the other guys had a AR-15 rifle there. Crazy stuff, share your gun experiences here! :)

Was it an indoor or outdoor range? There arn't any ranges around here (that I know of) that let you shoot Uzis or AR-15s, in full auto that is. A buddy of mine has a MAC90 that we shot out at his property in the countryside. Alot of fun, to easy to burn through the rounds...

They were semi auto....no burst or auto firing at this range I just went to.

Yea, it was a pretty nice indoor range. Shells were everywhere, it was funny. :D

The indoor range I visit rents out a fully-automatic mp5. One of these days I'm gonna try it out.

Best range I went to was an outdoor range in Texas where you could pretty much do whatever you wanted. The guy that ran it stayed in a little building and watched TV and never really paid attention to the range. It was normally empty, with maybe one or two other people there on Saturday, none if you went when it opened. $5 to shoot as long as you wanted.

We took some of my law books out there and peppered them, and I took some old hard drives for target practice as well. Fun stuff!

Looks like a 2nd generation Glock, can't quite read the lettering on the slide...

Both wrong. :p

It's a Smith Wesson SW9F 9mm. Not exactly the one I wanted, but my father gave it to me since he never shoots anymore. Good for starting out. :)

Ok, that's the model they were sued over, Glock won (quietly) & S&W re-engineered their poly framed autos to get around the patents Glock held.

I had a SW40F, it was the most unreliable weapon I've ever owned. Sold it to some guy & ran like the wind. Sent it to S&W X2 & it kept failing to feed with all kinds of ammo.

The 9's didn't have the problem, or they made some changes to it before re-designing the line.

i've always been interested in gun ranges...to experience first hand what it'd be like to shoot a gun...

but I also think that...i probably wouldn't even be able to hold one up..hehe

Easy as hell. Load it, cock it, safety off if there is one, and fire it! You'll probably want somebody to show you the basics of proper firing position.

Extremely easy (and fun). Just make sure you learn proper gun safety and technique and you're golden.

Depends on the gun. A 22 rifle is going to feel like a pellet gun. A high caliber pistol is going to push back hard. Something like a 9mm pistol won't push back all that hard in your hand if you're holding with both hands.

Exactly. Just make sure you are using both hands when firing at a range. It is also EXTREMELY loud in a range, good gawd if I moved my ear thingies off my ears would pop from everyone shooting because it was so loud.

LOL, you should see it when I take my 44 revolver to the indoor gun range. Tends to clear the place out pretty quick, (sort of a small indoor range). Like the others said, you learn safety FIRST, then you learn how to shoot. There are two things you need to concentrate on when target shooting: breathing & trigger pull. If your rounds are going too far left or right you are jerking the trigger, up & down tends to be breathing.

You're telling me dude, the first time I fired a pistol, it was a .45 revolver - one bullet in the chamber (thank god)

I tried firing it one-handed like an idiot. Fortunately I didn't try to hold on and just let it fly. Nowadays, thanks to the wrist excercise called "masturbation" - I can actually do that stunt (I'm tryin to work my way up to dual-wielding)

Edit: By the way, I'm a trained redneck, do not try my stupid stunts at home. TWO HANDS ON THE GUN, PLZKTHX

If you think its loud now, wait until the person in the next lane over uses a shotgun.:D

I started with a Ruger 9mm myself a few years ago. Now I own several handguns and rifles.
The biggest problem with this sport is that there is always something else you will want to try/buy.

Hmm, interesting. I was shooting more to the left or up to where I'm aiming. Any other good tips I should follow?

If it is available and within your means I highly recommend taking a course or two with an instructor.
They can be very helpful.
