First DX10 Crysis Benchmarks Appear

Results don't seem too impressive, quite the opposite.
However, it's a work in progress game with video drivers not mature enough.
It paints a bad picture though for those of us who cannot afford a 8800 GTX (let alone 2) and hoped that Crysis will run ok on a 8600 Ultra, let's say.

Maybe the game being delayed is a good thing, because the current top of the line videocard is barely good enough.

No Crysis for me any time soon then 🙁

Surely there will be some improvements though - it's not often you get a game that the best graphics card out can't run well.

What the hell happened to the demo where they showed Crysis running on a single core CPU with a single 8800 and they were actually getting decent performance...unless they were lying about the setup.

Few flaws in the "benches":

1: SLI is currently not usable in Vista
2: PhysX is not supported by Crysis (it has a track record of lowering fps anyway)

So i'm gonna say shens.

Shens here as well.
A) SLi is not usable in Vista (as has been said)
B) SLi does not work correctly in all games
C) Crytek explicitly stated that PhysX was not being used (because they're using a suped up Havok)
D) Driver maturity. nVidia still does not have decent drivers for Vista (or do they have any at all?), and do you really think that they would work perfectly as a first-run driver? Don't get your panties in your butt crack this early on.

Hmm why the hell do they test 1024x768, 1280x1024 and suddenly go to 2560 skipping 1600 etc? weird to say the least.. anyway thats bullshit.. either that or the 8800 is another nv30 😛 (nv30 was great at dx8 and sucked at dx9)

I was waiting for someone to say this 🙂
Was thinking the same thing.

Also they stated they were using the 100.30 drivers, total shens.

I probably would compare it to the radeon 9700 right now, the first good dx9 card. Since this benchmark is about what the 9700pro got for Far Cry right? Eventhough it kicked ass in any dx8 game, it had to run at around 1024-1280 res for Far Cry w/o AA/AF as well.

Shens. The CES demo was running well on the Dual-Core 8800 set-up they had.

Who would benchmark a Pre-Alpha in a game?

Also, who in their right mind would use this as an indicator of how the final version works? :disgust:

First, that's a very early version of the game. Things will improve. Second, 8800 SLI in Vista is really bad right now. If anything that's close to what a single 8800 will get in the game.

Doesn't work. Upload it to Imageshack.

gotta use IE

That image is not in game. Notice the purple fringing in the upper right corner. Now don't tell me that dx10 games will emulate lens specific chromatic aberrations. That's bull.

😀

sorry that you had to even think about it.
