This could be a capable off-roader as well. IMO, Porsche has a winner on their hands.Whether you?re loading heavy luggage or going where angels fear to tread, the air suspension can hold six different height settings from a stoop of 6.18 inches to a high of 10.75 inches of ground clearance. That?s a broader range, though not as high as on the Touareg.
Could be, but nobody who buys one will ever know. This could be a capable off-roader as well. IMO, Porsche has a winner on their hands.

Hooray for flawless German logic. "They didn't like new stuff before, but it was good, therefore this new stuff must be good too, even though it's an on road SUV intended for soccer dads who only know the Porsche brand."As for those who believe Porsche doesn?t belong in the truck business, design boss Lagaay says, ?Every new Porsche model has been faced with doubters telling us what a Porsche should be. Cayenne is just the start of a very long story. We have a big factory and the possibilities are huge.?

The new Porsche sport-ute will be named Cayenne.
Here is how Porsche explained the choice in a statement:
"Was the capital of the South American state French Guiana the godfather at the naming or was it rather an unmistakable combination of spices with a particularly fiery effect? Fact is: the term 'cayenne' is understood worldwide as a synonym for spiciness, adventure and joie de vivre. It is precisely these attributes which, from Porsche's point of view, perfectly describe the characteristics of the new off-road Sports Utility Vehicle--the third model range after the 911 and the Boxster. As was the case with the legendary 'Carrera,' the Spanish word for 'race,' the automobile company from Stuttgart has not chosen an artificially concocted term or combination of letters, but rather they have taken a living term which is immediately understood in almost every language and which is associated with particularly spirited qualities."
