Just what we need... more SUVs... but with turbos.
They should put govenors on SUVs like they do school buses... keep em at 45 or slower.
You do want that soccer team of yours to get to the field safely right? ;)

Good thing for Porsche there are 15,000 people that disagree with you.
Whether you?re loading heavy luggage or going where angels fear to tread, the air suspension can hold six different height settings from a stoop of 6.18 inches to a high of 10.75 inches of ground clearance. That?s a broader range, though not as high as on the Touareg.
This could be a capable off-roader as well. IMO, Porsche has a winner on their hands.

As for those who believe Porsche doesn?t belong in the truck business, design boss Lagaay says, ?Every new Porsche model has been faced with doubters telling us what a Porsche should be. Cayenne is just the start of a very long story. We have a big factory and the possibilities are huge.?
Hooray for flawless German logic. "They didn't like new stuff before, but it was good, therefore this new stuff must be good too, even though it's an on road SUV intended for soccer dads who only know the Porsche brand."

Well if comparing an SUV to water cooling makes them feel better about it while they decimate the Porsche name and laugh all the way to the bank...

Could be, but nobody who buys one will ever know.
The same could be said of most SUV's on the market.
Most? ;)

Not mine. I get regular use of mine off road. Like I said, it defeats the purpose of owning an SUV if you don't take it off road, IMO.

Agreed! It costs less, looks better, has a better interior, is better off-road (higher ground clearence, higher approach angles), and has the moutain moving TDI V10. The Cayenne looks like it was designed by crackheads.

Well duh. The Cayenne isn't exactly made to crawl rocks. :) Shame every single Hummer every created is ugly as crap, and I'm sure they drive like a bus compared to a Porsche.

$88,900 for that ugly SUV!!! Sheesh. And I'm a man that loves Porsches. Learned to drive on a '74 911 Targa.

For the same money, I'd rather spend $38,000 for a 2003 SUV like the Nissan Pathfinder or Toyota 4Runner or a host of others, if one needs an SUV that can tow a small boat or for family outings (camping, soccer, skiing. That would leave $50,000 for a Porsche Boxster.

it maybe be nice and a fun drive but its still ugly and the name is stupid

"hey, lets name it after a chili pepper!"

somehow i have a vision sort of like how apple was named where no one else could think of a name so they just used that, as stupid as it is.

The new Porsche sport-ute will be named Cayenne.
Here is how Porsche explained the choice in a statement:
"Was the capital of the South American state French Guiana the godfather at the naming or was it rather an unmistakable combination of spices with a particularly fiery effect? Fact is: the term 'cayenne' is understood worldwide as a synonym for spiciness, adventure and joie de vivre. It is precisely these attributes which, from Porsche's point of view, perfectly describe the characteristics of the new off-road Sports Utility Vehicle--the third model range after the 911 and the Boxster. As was the case with the legendary 'Carrera,' the Spanish word for 'race,' the automobile company from Stuttgart has not chosen an artificially concocted term or combination of letters, but rather they have taken a living term which is immediately understood in almost every language and which is associated with particularly spirited qualities."
