Nice find!

I do believe that is the first U.S. review.

Interesting how Maserati's base pricing works out against the GranTurismo's chief competitors:

2007 Jaguar XKR Coupe $85,835
2008 BMW M6 Coupe $99,110
2007 Mercedes Benz CL500 $100,675
2008 Maserati GranTurismo $110,000
2007 Aston Martin DB9 Coupe $165,700
2007 Bentley Continental GT $176,285

As usual, Maserati claims a relative "best buy", riding the cusp between the "mainstream" luxury brands and the exotics.

Something else that's interesting:

2007 Maserati Quattroporte $100,000.

Same platform, same engine--would you prefer two doors or four? :)

Another review in the Telegraph.

Now I'm going to douse the flames just a tad. Everybody raves about the transmission in the GranTurismo, but, as the Telegraph points out, the same six-speed ZF automatic is standard on the Jaguar XKR. The XKR is also quicker and its a real looker as well.

Of course the debate between classic Italian cars and British cars is an esoteric one--they're obviously going to feel very different and personal preference plays a role, but you have to admit that, at $25,000 less, the XKR sure looks like a better deal on paper.

Hmm, hopefully a few of these will show up up here in Washington, there are a couple of '03-04 Coupe Cambiocorsas that I've been eyeing and this could help push the price down a few more bucks. :D

That is a lovely, lovely car. It's nice to see Maserati continuing to build a modern, distinctive presence - when I was a kid the only Maseratis around were the pedestrian Biturbos (which look for all the world like an E30 3-series) and those godawful Chrysler/Maseratis.

For your sake I hope you're right but given that every GranTursimo at my local dealer is already spoken for through next year, I wouldn't get my hopes up on the GranTurismo having any impact on the price of used Maseratis.

One of the ones here has been on the market for about 5 months, the other for 3. I just figured it may either motivate them more (if they happen to be one of the people on the waiting list) or someone may sell another if they are thinking of a new one.

It may, it may not, it's just something for me to kick around right now, no rush.

Not much else you can get with a Ferrari V8 in it for mid-40s other than a likely troublesome 348 or earlier car. Once people figure that out, they may just not go down at all for a while, so who knows.

Go for it! You only live once!

I'm sure I don't need to tell you, but you are aware that the Cambiocorsa box (like BMW's SMG) has its share of critics, right?

Any chance you'd consider a Coupe GT?

Yeah, I'd consider either. Both of my cars now are 5 speeds.

The reviews seem to point out that the F1 shifting is great if you're driving sporty and doing it manually, and sucks in auto mode, which is fine by me, it's not actually an auto, to drive it as such would be doing what it wasn't designed for.

An M3 SMG is one of the other things on the list to check out. I race shifter karts, so in some respects I'm used to the little quirks of shifting with a system like that, you can't just hold the throttle down, grab the paddle, and expect it to be perfect. It's a balance of slight lifting, timing, knowing how long the shift will take, etc.

I don't see many Coupe GTs up for sale though, only very occasionally. Maybe that'd an indicator that people like them more. :)
