People are also going to crosshop it with M35, which has more power, handling, acceleration, speed, and a very nice interior as well. 3L V6 is just too small for this segment.
Kinda like ford 500 which has a 3L V6, and got a lot of flack for it.

True, but it will still sell in higher numbers than the M35.
It has the Lexus name, and there are a good number of people that will not be shopping this segment that are not looking for performance.

Or it could be a G35 vs IS300 type of scenario. If GS doesn't have the power to back up its performance image, that's not a good thing for sales. If they are going to just market it as a luxo boat, they will lose more performance oriented customer. I really don't think that offering Honda Accord class engine in a luxury performance sedan is a wise move, especially when they are offering a better engine in Toyota models costing half as much.

Boring as compared to ugly?
If you think the M35 is ugly, yes. I wouldn't buy either of them personally since they're both too big for my purposes, but it doesn't change that I find the GS boring.

What will the GS400 do

Thats for the GS430 not the GS300.

On a separate note. Its a shame they dropped the inline 6. 🙁

Why? The Inline 6 was heavier and longer. While it was a perfectly balanced engine, it really didn't balance the chassis.

The V-engine is probably going to be 98% as smooth as hte older inlnie, while being lighter and packaged better in the chassis.

Btw Brandon, in the Vortex thread you said the GS was going to be lighter than the older model. I don't think thats true. Only the engine will be lighter, not the entire car itself.

Oh and there have been exampels of cars being lighter in successive generations (see: 3rd gen Maxima -> 4th gen Maxima, Camry from your gen to my gen ( i have 99 model))

edit: the current GS300/430 is much better looking than this one. And the interior is not as aesthetically pleasing as the M35's.

Ehh... where did I say I liked the M35? I even said that I wouldn't buy either of them.

<-- Wants a G35x 😀

From the article:
Plus, its engine block is cast in aluminum (the old straight-six it replaces was iron), which helps the '06 GS 300 shed approximately 100 pounds overall.

I wish I could drive a lexus, at least once. Toyota / Lexus has always been my favorite brand of cars...ah well, I guess I need to graduate for that.
