What that needs more than anything is a 6-speed manual.

Give me a RT + AWD + a 6-speed.

I was all over it until I found out it was auto only.

I really hope it does well. I've always been partial to wagons and I would definately love to have an Magnum RT :)

Yeah, that concept was a complete failure when GM tried it in the early 80s.

I think this thing seems pretty cool but that interior is pretty shockingly stark and bland. On balance, though, you can't argue with a large, practical car with 340 bhp for $30K.

If I'm not mistaken, Mercedes' V12 does the same thing 6-12. Should be all worked out now.

the M-B V12 DID do it...and only for a few years I believe.

The twin turbocharged V12 they use now doesn't. :p

Seems like M-B did a full 180..went from trying to save fuel to just going balls out on performance.

As far as I know, the only manufacturer that is implementing it is Honda with the variable displacement in their V6 Accord (not sold in NA markets).

MB has been doing it for a while, I'm sure Dodge got suggestions from mother Merc before continuing with the cylindar deactivation setup :)

I saw its brother (300M) at the auto show and it was soooo damn sweet. :) Soo much room in the back seat with the driver seat moved all the way back (that was from my 6'2 friend).

Agreed. What a farking shame.

Holy crap though does the car look hot. I've thought that from the get go. This and the new durango and pickup - I really think Dodge has one of the best teams in the market now for appearance.

Also 340 HP for $30k is insane. The Pontiac GTO is in the same ballpark, but this is "kind of" a family car.

The other choice is a 200-hp, 2.7-liter V6, also borrowed from the LH cars and also matched to the four-speed automatic. Given the engine's small displacement and the Magnum's 3,800-pound body, we would caution against this combination if you can avoid it.

Why would Dodge add this as an engine option?

I dont know what trans that 5 speed maual is but, just buy a magnum in a few years after warranty is gone order a noYoYo or transgo manual valve body(also comes in reverse patterns), and its a manual without the clutch. I will be running a 3 speed 727 with a manual valve body soon.

Yeah it's BS that companies can get around the regulations by classifying a car as a truck and classifying cars like the PT Cruiser as trucks.

To offer a cheaper alternative. That way they can advertise "starting at under $22,000", even if the majority sold are with the more powerful V6 or V8.

I think it's pretty impressive that you can get a 340-hp engine for $30K. :Q I saw the Magnum at the auto show and it looks pretty good in person, better than the Chrysler 300 IMO. The cargo hold isn't gigantic but it was larger than I expected given the shape of the car.

I believe one of their advertising promotions is "Most powerfull car for under $30k"

well it's ulgy on the outside and ulgier on the inside, and it's a dodge, but 340 HP in a car that can carry my huge amplifiers sounds mighty fine to me. :)
