And no, the increase in horsepower didn't come at the expense of torque output, which actually goes up a single pound-foot, for a total of 143 lb-ft.
Wheee....

In the end, I was jonesing for torque like a heroin addict who hadn't had his fix in 3 days.

I wouldn't mind owning a GSR at all... a red one to boot and a thief magnet as well... but I'm sure you like your WRX much more now. :)

hp = (tq*rpm)/5252

OR

(143*7800)/5252 = 212.38

edit: or solve for 210 as the torque as probably fallen off a little at 7800 rpm and you get 141.4 lb-ft

edit2: torque is the real power, horsepower simply shows the ability to maintain that torque over a high rpm range, but otherwise is a mathematical fiction

Even though peak torque is only up by 1 lb-ft, I believe that the torque curve itself is flatter and overall better. Peak numbers are great, but area under the curve is more important.

so my car's max hp is 174 @ 5800 rpm and max torque is 181 ft-lbs @ 3200 rpm

so at max hp my car's making 158 ft-lbs of torque.

I'd rather have the RSX. I wouldn't be embarassed to be seen in it vs. a riced-out looking Neon......

I have a 2002 RSX-S...low-end torque off the line is definetely lacking.

Once you hit RPM's above 3000 and get up to speed the fun starts :D
