when does it hit the market?

one thing that would put it over Civic and Corolla for me would be DISK brakes in the rear... hello drum is ghetto and should be long dead in cars, hell it's dead in TRUCKS now

i say if it comes close to 200hp and under $20k, then mazda might have a case...

WTH dude? How many cars in this class come with 200HP????? ONE!!!! The Dodge Neon SRT-4. All the rest have between 130 - 175 HP.

And Mazdas have NEVER been about horsepower...it all has to do with handling.

yeah really, the 3 with that motor's direct competitor is the SE-R, and i would expect it to come in at about the same price point. i would also expect a mazdaspeed3, but that would be right at $20K and compete directly with the neon.

yeah i don't get why the civic has drums in the back. and i really don't understand why people paint their drums to show them off. for some reason the ford taurus has drums unless you get the wagon, kinda weird.

Exactly... Disk = :D Drums = :disgust:

Mazda is making a good move with that, the 160hp base motor is nice also... if they can keep it around the $15,000-$16,000 mark that'll blow Civic and Corolla out of the water

Base motor is a 2.0 liter 148HP unit...still enough for most people though :p

Anyone happen to have a release date for this car? If it's within the next few weeks.. this could very well be on the top of my list.

So far, I believe both the sedan and the 5-door hatch/wagon will be released simultaneously early in December.

Looks like initial impressions are favorable. Long-term quality is still to be seen, though.

The interior in the 3 looks better than the interior in any VW product and better than the one in the new 6.

I just hope they make the car quiet on the highway, compared to the current gen which is irritatingly loud.
