I'm thinking of pitching this to my company. I have broadband and a webcam, and I live 5 min from work. I already use VPN and remote control my workstation at night to do intrusive tasks that I don't want to impact people while they are working, and it works like a champ. If there was an emergency or real reason for me to be physically in the office, I could be there within 5 min.....

I wonder if they'll go for it...

I telecommute from college :D vpn rocks, it allows me to do online messaging support, and get information from our internal knowledge base just like if I were sitting on a computer 60 miles away behind the firewall :D

It's a nice life but I get a bit stir crazy from being in the house so many hours.

Telecommuting was fun for admin work.
But gets boring being in your house all day.

Exactly. Maybe I'll like it when I'm 40, but not now when I can be in the office and see everyone roam around... makes me feel much more alive. We can "work from home" if we choose to, and I did it only 3 days last year... none so far this year... but it's a nice convenience when you have midday errands to run.
