Touted & enabled the greatest financial looting spree since the 1920's? Deported a Canadian citizen from a customs zone for torture in Syria? Held an American citizen incommunicado in a military prison for a trumped up civil offense? Created the detention center at Gitmo? Endorsed torture? Appointed as many ideological toadies as possible to positions of authority in the executive & judiciary?

Indefinite extension of the Patriot Act, more power to the TSA for them to abuse, executive orders to extend wiretaps and property seizure, leaving GITMO open, extending the powers of Homeland Security, less transparency in DC after promising more... Removing idealists from the equation, most people vote for the lesser of the evils presented to them.

It's frightening to me that by all evidence an intelligent person seems to lose reason and get almost 'religious' when it comes to politics.

In truth, I see no difference between a Republican and Obama administration when it comes to security. We would see a larger defense budget balanced out by cuts in social programs. No HCA balanced out by a decreased tax burden on the 1%.

Is this really the destruction of America as we know it? Please - it's mild redistribution policies that you may not personally agree with, but merit frank and honest debate, and really doesn't change American society in significant ways. Increased concentration of wealth at the very top isn't healthy, though how to address it certainly has many different ways. Please just don't say trickle down with a straight face and a modicum of intelligence. Health care needs overhaul, and no the free market won't solve it (unless we as a society are willing to abandon the less fortunate).
