First car ideas?

I'm in desperate need of a car, but I've never bought one before so I have no idea what's good and whatnot. Basically I have $3000 to spend on this, and I'd prefer something with high mileage, seats at least 5 people, and is automatic. I know there's a lot to choose from, but what old cars would be good for me?

I'd look at high mileage, older Hondas but 5 people is gonna put a hurtin' on your selection.

Any GM car with the 3800 V6. That engine / trans combo is widely respected as being nearly bulletproof. Should be able to find an at least decent one in your price range.

I just got a '90 Honda Accord LX with 130k miles for $950. It's been great so far.
