First car accident, rarrr!

So I'm driving my GF's car to the market to get her some paint, and the traffic slows down a little, so I slow down but the person behind me was looking to the left for some reason, and hit me

So, I got his info/etc, blah blah, but rarrrr now I have to deal with getting it repaired, rar!

My friend told me that next time I get into a car accident I should request to be taken to the hospital. I don't know why, but he works for an insurance company.

Yes, you should always. The reason is because you want to make sure that you don't have any injuries from the accident that might show up later. I've only gotten into one accident and I felt fine right after. The next morning, I could barely move. Turns out that I pulled all the muscles in my back and neck. I could not even turn my head or bend over w/o major pain. I went to the doctor and luckily the bills were paid by the other person's insurance. If my injuries had been more serious, the insurance co. could claim that my injuries were not caused by the accident since I was supposedly fine right after.
