Lady has a network with a Cisco 678.

She calls the ISP side of things this morning to change her password.

They did that part OK, but to change the password the re-wrote the ENTIRE EFFING ROUTER!

Told her to wait 30 minutes & call back if it didn't work. Of course it didn't, because they're idiots. So she calls back. They re-wrote it AGAIN. And they STILL didn't get it right. So what do they do?

Tier 1 Tech: (scratches her head) Uhh... Call ProDSL.

:|

And it was a SIMPLE configuration, too. Took me less than 5 minutes to re-write it from scratch to eliminate any garbage they put in.

Doh!

Geez, how much stress leave do you take?

I think you need some chill pills.

None, actually. :) I dump it all out here.

And the best part of this is that they didn't even need to use CBOS to change the password. They could have done it very simply through the commander software, a couple mouse clicks & they'd have been done.

You don't me to get started on what happens at Uni. I use AutoCAD, 3DS Max and Photoshop amongst others and many a student seems to think that I'm there for the sole purpose of helping them out! Non-stop "how do I do this" "how did you do that" "what is wrong here" blah blah. :|

Ah, that felt good. I might do this more often. :p :)

TripleJ, I've found if other people don't know you're proficent with PC's at school, you get lots less help requests. I keep my tech savvyness to myself for that reason. A guy I knew openly advertised his ability to setup PC's on the network (it's NAT, so basically, clear out old settings and plug it in, but people have prolems with it), and the poor guy was busy as hell trying to fix problems on the floor the rest of the year

Viper GTS, dont they let you play quake there? We have a server setup specificly for stress release. As long as we still answer the phone, the boss doesn't card :D

Mr Bond, the thing is that I haven't told anyone except a few of my friends about what I do with computers. The questions asked are more to do with the course work and how to do stuff in the programs. I'm a bit more knowledgable at how the computers work so I know the programs better than most. It's just that when I am doing some work, they see what I'm doing and ask questions on how I did it.

Ever notice how when reletives you barely know get upset when you tell them to call the software company's tech support? (seeing how they know the program better than you)

I sold a computer to my dad who sold it to my uncle, I've reinstalled Win98 on it a couple times since. My general attitude is "everyone get a free one" and after that it becomes a "if I am bored" deal.
