I found a cheap SLI motherboard so the idea is to at first run with the 6600GT and when i need to just go out and buy anothere (nice thing is price will have probly droped agin.)

main idea is not haveing to throw down alot o cash right away but spend a little and get a system that runs well then when need drop a few more nickels and get a nice upgrade.

I hope i understand the whole SLI thing right. =P or this idea shot to hell. any who here's the build.

My main fear is if my case will have good air flow with the front being blocked up. a window kit on the top to fix or?

seems like that whole duel video card will work nicely from the reviews out there i just interested what new stuff will come out wile i am waiting to build
 
sli is a waste. it not worth it becase a subgke 6800gt will out preform dual 6600gts. and now the 7800gtx will out perfrom dual 6800ultras thats just my take on sli. i would sugest getting a 800xl from monarch fro $249 much better deal on a mych better card then a 6600gt
 
everybody says that a single 6800gt will outperform 2x 6600gt's but its simply not the case.

thats not a bad upgrade path if thats what you can afford. the 6600gt is pretty capable but you don't mention what your game settings are or your resolution expectations.

i don't know anything about that board but make sure your ram is compatable.

edit--and for the love of God don't get that psu. even if you never sli, spend another $20 now and get a decent psu.
 
Might you have a PSU in mind =P i keep going cheepo but if i going SLI i gess i better get a good one now i have a dell 2005FPW so i like to play at High Resolutions right now the game i want to run smooth is Battlefield too doesn't have to be full setings. i jsut know once i start upgradeing this and that my computer blows up to like 860 dollars and i just can't do that

Yes a single one might outperofrm 2 6600GTs but his point is that he can buy one now (cheaper than a 6800GT) and then when the 6600GT drops in price, he'll pick up another one. Therefore being significantly cheaper than the 6800GT.
 
@ alphaq- yeah, i was agreeing with him.

OP- the x-clio will be fine if you're not oc'ing, the xclio 450. newegg has it for like 52.

so you don't have the 2001 now, right? i had a 6600gt agp that did fine on 12x10 with bf2. you may waqnt to check anands bf2 card review to see some resolutions. there are a bunch of otheres around too. in fact, rollo in video has a comprehensive list of benches between the cards in sli on different games/resolutions etc. a search of "6600gt sli benches" should get you it.
 
i'm trying to figure out how to make it look like a foot coming in from the side to boot it, lol
 
Haahah alsome.... oo and one othere thing will SLI preformence/Tec improve as better drivers come out and game patches you figure.?
