You can get a good 120GB Samsung SATA drive from Newegg for about ~80 - the video card you'd probably want to keep the X800 Pro since the video card is the biggest factor in your new sys. If you want to cut prices, you could get some Lite-ON or Samsung drives instead of the Toshibas - they work just as well in my experience. Overall, quite a good build, looks like you've been taking advantage of AnandTech :)

I got away with 80gb of storage for a long time. Then I got a pair of WD1600JB on sale and a 7K250 120GB SATA for free (giftcard).

Good looking build. Looks like you've done your homework.

HDD: Consider getting a 120GB or even 200GB Hard Drive.

RAM: What RAM are you getting?

PSU: How many +12V amps does that PSU give?

Good luck!

Can't believe I forgot the RAM. I was gonna go with some corsair value ram 1gb. I upgraded the HD to 120gb. That puts the total to $995.46. This is of course without the 1gb of ram or shipping. I have 512 from my old pc to get me through till I can save for the corsiar. I could go with cheaper opticals like Ariafrost suggested to free up more $$ for the ram.

Thanks to Anandtech and NewEgg I have it narrowed down. Anandtech has proved to be an INVALUABLE resource. I couldn't have done it without help from the forums. Once I finnaly get it up and running Ill post some pic's for the noob build.

Thanks again for all the great insight!!

Rod,

As for the +12v amps the detail on NE says NO.
Does that indicate that it is a 20 pin connector vs a 24 pin?

Well the XL is only an extra $40.00. I could make a few cuts to get it. Is the performance really that much better? I am moving up from a Sapphire 9600pro 256. The diffrence will be amazing enough for me. I haven't looked at any details between the XL and Pro. Let me know what ya's think.
