What I want to know is, is everything compatible? I won't be overclocking at all, so yeah.

ATI 100-435400 Radeon X850XTPE 256MB GDDR3 PCI-Express x16 Video Card - OEM

Thanks. I probably won't get this for 4-5 more days just to see how the 7800 is, but I won't change main components unless something is incompatible.

EDIT: Oh, and, the X850XT on a SLi board may be temporary. If 6800Ultra prices drop, I'll get Ultra SLI. If they don't drop that much, 6800GT SLI, or a 7800GT.

LIES! MSI is a good brand! To be honest, if you are not overclocking, even no name motherboards will be fine and stable. Just find a motherboard that has the bells and whistles you want and you are set. That is if you don't plan to overclock.

You know you wanna... even just a little bit... come on..

*sigh* So should I change back to Corsair XMS? Or would Crucial do? Cause Crucial would save me $$$ and score me a free FarCry.

Also, I <3 MSI, but would an ASUS SLi board be better? I'm trying to keep away from DFI cause I heard they're first-timer horrors.

And DAMN Seagates are expensive. I really want 160GB too.

PQI is fine, but I do prefer Crucial. I guess it really depends on the price difference. Especially with the free game.

Seagate HD's would be my recommended choice.

Samsungs are extremely quiet so it is a good choice.

Sammie HD's are an excellent choice! MSI is a very good board as well. The first neo's had bugs, but that was long ago. You cannot go wrong w/ an Asus board though IMO. Whatever the RAM you get remember low latency beats speed on a64l. G luck ;)

I'd have to agree with Pentium Guy. I've had bad experiences with MSI boards, 2 out of 3 arrived DOA, so I suspect they have serious quality control issues. If they work they seem to work well, though.

Everything in that build looks good.

ASUS... MSI... ASUS... MSI... oh god why did you have to make me choose?

Anyway, I've heard the Samsungs are really quiet, and that's good. So I guess I'll keep that.

Onto RAM. The price difference between the PQI and the Crucial is actually more than the cost of FarCry. Although the game isn't really what I'm worried about. I want some quality RAM, and if it would cost me 40 more bucks to get it, I'm fine with that. Now, I am not really familiar with RAM, so here are both of them. It'd be great if someone could go over them real quick.

Teehee, :D. I don't see why I should even need to overclock though. The system seems good enough for at least a year on stock settings.

And I'm upgrading from a P4 1.6GHz, 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD, GeForce 2 monster to this one ;)

You're right, you don't need to. But omfg it's so fun!! Then you end up breaking everything like me and you wish you never even started.

Which is exactly why I'm trying to steer away from OCing, I'm afraid I'll pop something <_< >_>

So basically, Corsair, Crucial, and PQI. More opinions?

Any more opinions on the MSI and ASUS thing? That and the RAM. I need to pick one =P.

EDIT: The ATI is a placeholder for an estimate price. Waiting a few more days for a possible price drops, and I may go Dual 6800GTs.

The Corsair VS is the cheapest and probably the most popular RAM at these forums. That would definitely be my choice.

MSI is okay, but they do cheap out on components compared to higher-end mobo manufacturers. All motherboards are not created equal - the el cheapo ones tend to have shorter lifetimes and stability issues. At least in my experience...

The Samsung performs about the same and is the quietest hard drive you can buy - look no further! :)

Sadly, that is SO true. :( I can't live without having tweakable BIOS settings anymore... it makes me feel like I bought low end crap if I can't adjust voltages, timings, FSB, etc.
