Thanks for your kick @ss forum. Sure beats trying to reasearch magazines and websites that get paid for good reviews.

My new rig is up and running and doing fine. It's sure nice having built something to your exact specs and something that is cheaper and better than a dell. No junk from AOL, etc...

Next step: overclocking! (Slowly and surely, of course) (Always search before posting)

If you drink, here's a  if not have a :cookie:

CHaintech VNF3-250 (seems nice, manual and documenation sucks, though)
Athlon 64 3000+
Corsair Value Select 512mb
Seagate Baracuda 120gb ATA (should have got SATA but scared of driver issues)
ATI Radeon 9600xt (needed video capture)
NEC 3500 DVD burner
Antec 3700amb case (really nice, quiet, very happy)

Congrats on the new build:thumbsup:

My Soyo manual was somewhat helpful when I built my system but it a few errors in it and what was described in the manual didn't quite match up with what I saw on the mobo. But fortunately, I was able to muddle through and I am quite satisfied with what I have accomplished after the computer first POSTed

Good for you and good luck on OC'ing:D

Everything is awesome. I know im being a jerk here ... but for a couple of more $ you could have gotten 160GB :)

I was on a very tight budget, but I plan on getting another hard drive (big one) for video stuff and also bumping to 1 gig of memory. Hopefully Santa Claus is good to me.

Why not go SATA?

I know you said scared of driver issues but isnt there an easy work around for that?

Also - is SATA a better way to go than ATA?

hey... congrats! nice setup

if you don't mind ... could you tell me how much you spent?
I'm planning on doing a similar setup ... so far i've got the nec3500a and an Antec sonata case
I'm going to get a athlon64 2800 /w chaintech vnf250 and a raedeon 9800pro

what kind of memory did you get ... the 3200 or 3500? how much was it?
any problems / concerns with the mobo? installation problems or anything? i'm really picky about everything i buy ... so criticize away if you could...

thanks
