first build locks on boot up

This is my first build. When I boot I get a lock up in the bios at "verifying pool data". The spects are as follows:

amd 3200
msi k8n MOBO (good deal with the chip at frys, board and chip were $269)
maxtor sata ultra seriesr 80gb
ati 9800 pro 128 ram
muskin 3200 ddr 512*2
DVDrw
antec case with antec power supply ( 3 fans)

When I boot , the fans are all working. If I disconnect the hard drive and I put windows setup into the cd rom, the windows setup screen appears. Of coarse I don't do the setup since no hard drive.

The mobo does not have attachments for SATA 1 and 2 even though the manual states it does.
I am attached to SATA 3. I tried 4 with same results. In the bios ,I activated the SATA 3,4 ports.

I can overrride the boot sequence and the computer sees the maxtor drive.

Please help. It is a 2 hrs drive back to frys, but I have this weekend free to get this built.

I fixed it. I am posting this for other newbies that make the same mistake.

I forgot to change the boot order on the bios , so the blank
sata drive was trying to boot. I just made the
cd rom boot first with windows install disk in drive and all is well.
