First build - first bootup question

I just finished putting in all the hardware in my first build, and turned on the power. It fired up, showed the bios screen just fine. In the bios, it is showing my bunrer and DVD rom, but it does not show my HDDs. Is this because I haven't installed on OS and formatted them yet? Or should they still show up in the first boot up?

The HDDs should show up even if they are not formatted. Make sure your bios settings are correct, and that they are properly connected to the motherboard.

I have the Bad Axe 2 mobo. I have two SATA HDs, NOT in raid. I connected the primary HD to the Sata 0 hookup, and the other to the Sata 3 hookup per the instructions. Is ther a setting in the bios I need to change?

i'm trying to remember my build, but i think my 2 sata HDDs did show up in BIOS initially. I used the SATA ports on the Intel controller, not the marvell. Will it let you install windows?

Yes, if your BIOS doesn't see the drives, they aren't connected correctly.

The HDDs are showing up in the biso. But, when I start up the computer, I get a message indicating "Adapter 1 - no array is defined, no disks detected. Then it says "initializing and establishing link." After a minute of so of that, I get the following message "PXE-E61 media test failure - check cable, PXE - MOF- "and something about Intel Boot Agent, and then "no bootable device - install boot disk and press any key".

Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you're only using the Intel SATA ports, disable the secondary ports (Marvell) in BIOS and it won't come up with that Marvell message about detecting RAID.

Also, don't forget if you want AHCI to load the drivers w/ F6 during Windows install.
