Raidmax PSU? No, just no. Anyway, I think you can get a GPU that's quite a bit better than a GTX 760 given your budget.

i5 4670K + Crucial DDR3 1600 8GB combo $245
ASRock Z87 Pro3 $95 AR
MSI 7970 3GB $300 AR
Samsung 840 120GB $100
WD Blue 1TB $70
Lite-ON DVD Burner $18
Corsair TX650 $70 AR
Corsair 200R $50 AR
Arctic Cooling i30 $30
PC: $978 AR

ASUS VG248QE $252 AP
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit $100 - could go Windows 8 as well, your preference
Corsair K60 $80 AR
Logitech G400s $60
Peripherals: $492 AR AP

Total: $1470 AR AP

Is this good OC motherboard?
What is the difference in performance with the one I posted?

I read not much difference in performance between 760 and 7970?

Thanks again for your help.

The Pro3's features are more than enough for your needs. Also, the 7970 has a slightly better stock performance, much better overclocked performance (You are gonna OC the GPU, right?), and more VRAM for higher resolutions.

Thanks Ray,

Yes, I plan to OC the GPU.
However at some point, I would like to add another 7970 for CF and wondering if Corsair TX650 is good enough for 2 GPUs?

No, neither the TX650 nor the Pro3 can handle two 7970s.

However, I've bolded the key phrase in your post. You're making a mistake that a lot of first-time builders make in trying to plan for SLI. If you don't have definite plans to add a second card within the next 3 months, it makes little sense to provision for one at all. You'd be better of just getting a better single card when the time comes.

Or to put it another way, you'd be giving up quite a lot of gaming performance now just for the chance that you might be able to get some more in the indeterminate future. Not a good bet for those of us without crystal balls.

I see your point, and I agree.

Now I see some CPU+MoBo Bundle option at microcenter and wondering which one will be best for me.

http://www.microcenter.com/site/brands/intel-processor-bundles.aspx

My use will also include some music and entertainment and forgot to mention I would like to record videos while playing games. Not heavily into recording though.

And what speed I can get (or should expect) from CPU after OC using i30 fan?

And I like this case. That's why I want to stick with it. Any suggestion on PSU. 750 seems more than I need and I have only $70 left in budget.

MoBo is from Microcenter.

I will be ordering parts in next couple of hours. Just waiting for an expert to approve everything is good to go.

Thanks in advance.

You're near a MicroCenter right? Because those CPU/motherboard combos are only in-store.

The build you have in the OP is great. You only need that 750W PSU if you're going to crossfire. Otherwise, a 500W unit would be plenty. Given that it would only save you $20 or so, you might as well get the 750W unit, since you're under budget anyway.

Looks good from here. Heres the real question: ARE YOU EXCITED?!?!?

I remember my first build...man I was so excited, the UPS guy couldn't drive fast enough. The day of the delivery? Good lord, every car that drove by the house sounded like a UPS truck.

Don't forget that the budget also includes Monitor, KB, and mouse. The 750W would cut into the "fancy keyboard" budget a little too much for my liking.

EDIT: I see the OP changed his post and title. It was originally "First build budget $1,500".

I am very excited. This is going to be a totally new experience. Can't wait for the parts. Eagerly waiting emails from Amazon and newegg that they have shipped the parts and then setting up alerts for the shipments.

Also driving to microcenter and getting CPU and MoBo.

I hope they will have some mech keyboards on display and I will try them.

I will appreciate if you can suggest a good mech keyboard around $100-$125.I like steel series sensei mouse and its around $50.

I got $100 left for keyboard. But I think I can arrange another $25. What do you think of K70?
