Guys,

I'm in the process of building my first AMD Sempron system, a Sempron 2500+ cpu on a Shuttle MN31L mATX board, 512MB Corsair Select PC-3200, WD 80GB, Samsung 52x32x52; will utilize on-board video, audio and NIC. I've built a number of systems over the years (50+) but this is my first AMD since the K5 days.

Setup went fine, it booted up, and right now I'm formatting the HD. My question(s) centers on the processor and memory setup. The memory frequency at bootup is listed at 333MHz - should this be 333 or 400MHz, and if so where do I change it (as in which BIOS section and setting do I change)?

Second, the FSB frequency is listed as 166MHz. Should it be 166 or 200? Are Semprons "double pumped," in that the FSB the system indicates is doubled by the processor?

FYI this system will not be overclocked, as it's for my brother-in-law for business use, so stability is paramount.

Thanks for any input you can provide,

Jeff

1. The memory should be set at 333 mhz for the best performance. To change it look in the bios under advanced chipset features this is usually where it is.

2. The FSB should be set at 166. Semprons are "double pumped" so you will have a 333 mhz FSB

Computer MAn, thanks for the response. I'll check via your suggestions to make sure I'm set up properly.
