Question firmware updates for Sandisk SD memory cards

SD cards do have firmware, but I've never heard of manufacturers providing firmware updates for them. Even for SATA and SAS drives that only happens on very rare occasions.

There are updates because I found one on Sandisk's website for one of their upper tier SD cards. Unfortunately, can't call Scandisk right now because they are on the west coast and me be on the east coast. My question is if there are generally firmware updates for most SD cards, which like most other firmware updates for various electronic devices are never applied (ignored) to the devices because most people have no idea that firmware updates are available/exist AT ALL, i.e. ignorance is bliss. On most computers that you purchase, by the time that it gets to market the firmware/BIOS is already several versions out-of-date. Thanks.

@wpshooter Oh, interesting. While the firmware an SD card model often changes over its production time, manufacturers normally don't provide newer firmware versions to the public, unless there is some serious flaw in an older one. I really don't think it's worth the hassle to update the firmware, at best you would get a slight performance increase. If SanDisk doesn't provide firmware and the software to flash on your SD cards product page I would just forget about it, I don't think it's worth the hassle.
