Firmware reset

I updated my firmware for my DVD-RW drive for my laptop the other day, rebooted and lost the drive. BIOS no longer recognizes it and I tryed to boot windows from CD at the startup and no such luck. I really don't want to get another drive because HP charges 329$+installation. If somebody could please help, thanks.

I can only suggest you flash it back to the old version.

For a DVD drive?!? Holy crap, I'm glad I don't have an HP...

Chances are, you need to force a firmware update on it, which is generally done from the console. If you still can't detect it, well then you borked the firmware update before and unless you can get it reprogrammed the drive's toast.

#1 Rule about Firmware: If it's not broken, don't fix it.
