FiringSquad: In the shadow buffers white paper, you mention that shadow buffer technology was used in the Final Fantasy movie. How feasible is it to implement Final Fantasy-like graphics on the PC?

David Kirk: Technically it is very feasible, as witnessed by the fact we are playing back the Final Fantasy movie in real-time and allowing you to interact with the scene....

It takes a powerful GPU and a pretty powerful PC to play back Final Fantasy in real time...

Final Fantasy graphics in a game would be limited only to the power user crowd.[/i] >>

I admit I know very little when it comes to 3D technology nor do I really know how much technology has advanced, but this really surprised me! :Q Considering that it took Square walls of thousands of CPUs to render the movie, I found David Kirk's claim hard to believe (even though he DID say that they already are playing it in real-time). Even thinking that the girl had 10,000(?) individual strands of hair to render is mind blowing. But then, maybe nVidia really is that good...what do you guys think?

Download it and see for yourself, nvidias FF-demo is much simpler than FF-movie, stil very impressive though.
