It is a Big bottle rocket taking off, from a glass bottle. You can see the silhouette of the glass bottle through the sparks. I used a Canon Powershot S30 with nighttime mode (slow shutter)

Very nice catch. I love doing night shots/fireworks. They can be really tough. Looks like you had a tripod or something to steady the camera.

Very nice catch. I love doing night shots/fireworks. They can be really tough. Looks like you had a tripod or something to steady the camera.

freehand, only one shot i took of the big ones, the rest turned out similarly for the small ones except when i timed wrong

I need to get a new cam where I can control the exposure. Dark photos still dont come out well without some bright light sources.
