So yeah I looked out of my window b/c I heard loud booming noises and it turns out there are fireworks going off at the Statue of Liberty. It's been going on sporadically for about half an hour now I'd guess. Anyone know why?

It?s probably for that video they are filming for the Olympic Committee. Wasn't the fake ticker-tape parade today as well?

That only comes to $170,000,000 per playoff win. That's a great deal in my book.

deal with it

The Yankees lost because of their pitchingm, which has been sub-par for the past two seasons. Their offense is strong with Soriano, Giambi, Williams and Jeter. Steinbrenner is more concerned with having big-name players then big talent players.

And for those of you who complain about salary, just walk through NYC for a while and you'll see all the Yankee merchandise. If a team is making money, why should they have to suffer? Partial blame should be on the fans, not the owners/players. If the people in Tampa Bay don't want to support their team, don't blame the Yankees because their city supports them as well as the Mets. Supply and demand justifies their salaries. Baseball is *not* a past-time anymore, its a business. Players make good money if they perform, just like employees. If a company is profitable, its shareholders and select employees are rewarded, much like sports players.

If you don't like it, simply don't watch or go to the games. People don't understand by them watching baseball games, by them buying merchandise and by them going to games, they are pouring money directly into the pockets of the sports team/league.
