This is an email from a friend so Ill do my best to answer any more questions. Dont know service pack level or model of machines but they are both Dell.

I have a Win2k Server and a 2K Pro workstation that I want to add external Firewire drives to. I purchased 2 Lacie drives, 1 TB each and 2 Firewire 800 cards.
I installed one card in each system and loaded drivers. I connected one drive to the 2k Pro box and was able to format a partition.
When a drive is plugged into the Server machine, the machine acts like nothing is there. No device insert notification or anything. Is there a service in 2k Server that needs to be turned on for removable storage to work?
