Firewire - SB Audigy or dedicated board. Which is better? IRQ usage?

I'm am purchasing a digital camcorder and trying to line up all the pieces. I was considering purchasing a SB Audigy card, primarily to gain the firewire port. My current sound card is a SB Live 5.1 Value which is more than satisfactory for my needs.

BestBuy is running an offer this week that includes a "free copy" of Pinnacle's Studio 7 with a firewire card if you purchase a digital camcorder. Had planned on purchasing this software because it has been recommended by friends. The firewire card is icing on the cake...I think.

Can anyone advise be re the pro's and con's of the firewire capabilities between the SB Audigy and the card included within the Pinnacle package? Slots are not an issue but IRQ's may be. Assume both of these require separate IRQ's just for the firewire port but don't know.

Would someone please educate me?

Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand what your concern is. Each Firewire connection port will require an IRQ, but I wouldn't worry about it. If you're satisfied with the SBLive, then go a head and install a stand alone Firewire PCI card. If you do happen to upgrade to an Audigy, then just use that. There's really no difference other than one is on-board with the sound card and the other is a stand alone card.

What's the Firewire card? Hopefully it's a reasonable quality one. Then again most should work.

A $30 noname brand (Lucent chipset) one didn't work in my system. So I bought a $30 Iwill card (Via chipset) it works great. The benefit of the Firewire card is 2-3 ports as opposed the the Audigy's 1 port (which apparently is a bit slower).
