Ok, so I have a bunch of footage on my DV camera, and I am trying to transfer it to my computer. For some reason, my computer will not reconise the camera! I'm not sure if this is a computer problem, or a software problem, or maybe the actual wire's probelms. I am using Ulead VideoStudio 6, on a Dell P3 600 Mhz, 256 MB RAM, on 25.4 GB Hardrive.

I have tried downloading drivers from the Firewire Cards website, but the card is not listed! I have also tried taking out the card and reinstalling it, but with no luck. I also have tried plugging my firewire into a different slot, but it still doesn't work.

My Card: Que! FireWire PCI Card (3-port IEEE-1394 PCI Adapter)
Note: I could not find the card on the Manufacturers site, but I did find a link with all the specs of the card Link

My Computer: Dell P3 600 Mhz, 256 MB RAM (PC100), 25.4 GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM), Win 89se.

What could be the problem? Could it be a bad connection (Wire), or could the PCI card just be dead?

What's your OS?
If WinXP, it will automatically install generic driver for your firewire card. (you should able to see it under device manager)
Instead going hay wire w/ your PCI card, have you install DV camera driver?

I am not sure about win98, but under win2k you must make sure the correct default driver is installed; plug and pray will automatically install the wrong one for video cameras. You need to select "more driver options" or something to that effect when it senses the new hardware device, then select the list of drivers to install. If I recall, one of them said "dv camcorders" is the default selection but it never worked on my system, instead, I had to choose the other driver , just the generic 1394 I believe. After that, device manager will automatically install a new driver section with "microsoft dv cameras" or something to that effect (only visible when you plug in a camcorder), this actually drives the camcorder devices on the firewire I believe. Without it, the camcorder wont work over firewire.
