Firewire networking?

Can I network two computers through a firewire hub, or a direct firewire connection?

All I want to do is transfer files from my old laptop, to the new one... if I can't do this, Ill use a crossover cable, but I figured Id ask.

You can run a network over firewire in XP, but there is no such thing as a firewire hub.

There are FireWire repeaters (hubs) in the data-networking sense.
