Was in my local OD and saw the DV-Editor SE cards in the glass case on clearance for $29.88!!!

Got the only 2 my store had.

This is from the Dazzle website:

Easily edit your digital video on a PC! Dazzle DV-Editor SE adds two IEEE 1394/iLink ports to a PC for DV camcorder support. DV-Editor SE includes a powerful video editing software suite, complete with Hollywood-style special effects, titles and transitions. After editing, video can be sent back to the DV camcorder tape or it can be converted to MPEG-1 for publishing to CDs, e-mail, or the Dazzle Webcast Theater. It is perfect for both home and business applications.

Any idea what chipset is being used on the card? It seems that the cheaper firewire cards use chipsets other than the TI chipsets which tests have shown to be faster than the rest.

Yep, there's a 6' cable included, and a full version of Ulead Video Studio Version 4.0. The cool thing about the software is that you can take still images and put transitions, music in and/or voice, and burn 'em to CD in VCD format so you can play it back on a DVD player. Cheap gifts for grandparents! Oh yeah! After looking at it I would've picked this up for the software alone - it retails for $99 boxed on Ulead's site or $85 on Amazon. Apparently the only difference in the software with this package is that it won't do MPEG-2. The software has a great easy to understand and operate interface btw.

EDIT: Capster, it uses the Lucent chip, which has a 400 mbs transfer rate. Yeah, TI is faster, but since this is cheap I'll just be a little patient. :) The cable alone sells for $12 most places. This may not be for the expert firewire user, but to play around with I'll settle for the $29 price tag.

Sounds like a good deal! The kit is priced at $69.99 @ CompUSA, $52.99 @ buy.com, and $50.54 @ onvia.com. Any good deal at OD for around $20 so I can use a $10 off $50 coupon?

Do what I did, get TWO and give one as a really cool techie Christmas present! $50 for two and knocking out a present that LOOKS like you spent more than you did is a good deal to me. :)

Yeah, can't seem to find it either. Not on OD website or any of the local stores - sku and upc #'s don't exist. All they seem to have is the DM-4300 which is the usb version. What part of the country are you finding the firewire version in?

I'm in North Carolina - as far as the sku goes, that's all I have. Hopefully one of the other people that got it can be a little more helpful.

Can't find the SKU, neither on the box nor on the receit. The whole package contains a card, an iLink cable, and a booklet shrink-wrapped with a CD.

Why this is so hot? Unless you have firewire HD or Camera, it simply sits in your computer doing nothing. And the price for these cards will be falling within the next few months.

Unless you need this right now, don't buy it.

Anyone having any problems with this card. I just picked it up from OD and it doesn't worked. I tried it in two of my computers. I even returned it and got a new one, still no luck. Doesn't even see the card when I boot up in the bios. Any ideas?

Mine works great. For transferring DV, this card should have enough power. And the software is nice and easy to use too. You get super sharp video onto your computer, and you can choose any compression rate, tons of editing tools. So far I think this is a great deal!
