well, actually more like my computer.

so here I was working away on my winXP computer when it had one of those 30-sec hang moments. of course, i just let it ago (while my computer crunch away) and when everything was moving again, I continued on. But i knew something is wrong (something always go wrong after one of those).

this time, everything is fine except when I run the usual programs (let's say premiere and after effects), it runs slower than usual (like slow task-switching or response to clicking buttons). on top of that, transferring files to my firewire hdd took wayy longer. that's the usual indicator I use (or if I decide to render a video). Usually, it's about 1min per 1Gb transferring from computer to my firewire hhd. now, it's like 5mins for a 700mb file. or another example, is in IE, I type in the URL and goto the website, it'll load, gimme a blank white screen (cuz I have blank screen as default) for like 2 secs, then loads the whole page.

I ran adaware, virus-scan, and scandisk/chkdsk. anybody with any ideas? I know a reformat will fix everything. I tried a re-installation over winXP, but that didnt work. I am totally stumped

I just reformatted my computer like last week. Just "analyzed" my drive and says I do not need to defrag. I didn't change any settings. My computer just hung for awhile while crunching away, then it started.

Here's some that caught my eye in my event viewer:

under application
-----------------------
The COM+ Event System attempted to fire the EventObjectChange::ChangedSubscription event but received a bad return code. HRESULT was 80040201. (WARNING)

The performance counter name string value in the registry is incorrectly formatted. The bogus string is 2272, the bogus index value is the first DWORD in Data section while the last valid index values are the second and third DWORD in Data section. (ERROR - SOLUTION WAS GIVEN, BUT YET TO TRY, OCCURED A FEW TIMES)

under system
----------------
The driver disabled the write cache on device \Device\Harddisk1\DR1. (WARNING)

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation. (WARNING - OCCURED QUITE A FEW TIMES)

The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort0, did not respond within the timeout period. (ERROR - OCCURED QUITE A FEW TIMES)

The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur. (WARNING - OCCURED QUITE A FEW TIMES)

Anything mean anything?
