Firewire graphics input

Is there a box where I can take a video signal from one computer and input it through the firewire or USB of another computer (with the monitor attached) like a laptop and use that screen?

Thanks,
JOe K.

I've used video input devices (capture cards) in the past in the way your describing but the image quality is usually not so great and there is usually quite a lot of input lag. The products i'm referring to are designed for video capture and just happen to have monitoring abilities. I'm not aware of a product that is specifically designed to do what you're talking about. What exactly are you trying to do?

I am trying to use an iMac as a monitor for my PC. The iMac only has Mini-DVI (Output only) and I want to be able to use it for my PC monitor. I don't want to have two 24" independent monitors on my desk (especially when they can't be used together). I'd rather have one 24" monitor.

I'd use a KVM for the input device but I would have to use a capture device to switch the video and run the video from some sort of realtime display software.

My line of thinking is perhaps I could find a low latency capture device where I could access my PC (without remoting in).

Hope that makes sense.
