Hey,

I'm having problems getting my computer to recognize my sony dv camcorder. I can get it to recognize that it's there *sometimes* but not usually. When it is recognized, here's what happens: I'll start up premiere, go to capture, and press a button (like "play" or "rewind") from the device control to see if it works. The camera will respond correctly. After that, however, no buttons on the device control will work, and premiere starts messing up. If I pressed play, I have to stop it manually on the camera.

Those are rare cases though. Usually I can't even get windows to detect that I have a camera plugged in.

Any ideas what the problem might be? This is a new computer with firewire built into the motherboard, so I haven't actually had previous success with this particular setup. Any help would be appreciated.

Motherboard: Abit IS7
OS: Windows XP
Camera: Sony DCR-PC100

Thanks...

Under device manager 1394 device check and make sure it does not have any problems. Also since it seems to work sometimes check your firewire cable over. Hope this helps.

Everything under device manager seems fine. I'm pretty sure the cable is fine too. Any other ideas? Maybe driver conflicts or something?

Thanks...
