Firewire CDRW Question

I installed a Lite-On CDRW (12X) into the Pyro Firewire Drive Kit.
It workes fine when reading CDs and even gets recognized as a the right drive in EZ CD Creator 5.02c.

However, when I try to burn, it only writes the TOC and then stops. Nothing happens and I have to shut down the computer so I have access to the drive again. I don't get any error messages or fault codes or freezes.
CD Creator's timer just stops progressing.

Anyone have experiance with these Firewire CD-burners?

Don't have an answer for you, but hope someone else does. Only thing I can think of is to try Nero, if you have that, and see if it works.

I am interested in seeing if you can solve this. I was going to order the Pyro kit for a friend (his pc doesn't have any more 5" bays open), and drop a Liteon 24x in it. Now I'm thinking maybe I should wait a bit to see if others have problems with this kind of setup.

I made some progress - but only some.

While I tried burning audio CDs, the CD-writer succesfully burned the lead-in and then stopped burning (it was just spinning at that point).

I'm really lost here. I also tried using Nero - same thing.
I tested the CD-RW in another computer and it worked fine (burned fine, also).
So it has to be something with the set-up. But what?

Anyone have any ideas? I really need to get this to work.

I have two Que Fire! external Firewire CD/RWs, and they outperforma my SCSI external by H-P.

If you are losing signal with Firewire, it could be the patchwork interface that causes the problem. My drives are built for Firewire and never lose the signal.

I thought about loss of signal, but here is why I don't think that's it:

The drive always stops recording after the lead-in part. Always at the same spot. However, it records fine in a standalone.
So I am assuming is interfering with the data being sent from the HD to the Firewire CDRW, and the drive is just waiting for the data to arrive.
Maybe a software issue? A setup problem?
I dunno - tried every setting I could fine (DAO, TAO, Burn-Proof, 2X, 4X, 12X, ...)
