Firewire cd-rw, what is the connection inside it?

i was looking at the yamaha firewire drive, but what do they usually use for the internal drive.. ie, ide/scsi? i saw that most firewire enclosures use ide, but do all of them? thanks.

as a good starting point, I would consider how much you paid for it. If other firewire drives are considerably cheaper, then you probably have SCSIi. If other drives are similarly priced, its a good bet that its IDE...

is there a way to check a device without opening it and physically looking at the cd-rw?

i don't think so. but more than likely you have an IDE drive. a scsi one would be insanely expensive.
