Firewire card affect video quality?

xWeston

Senior member
Does the brand of firewire card (namely the chipset) have anything to do with the video quality that comes in? or only the speed. I have a western digital firewire card and it uses the NEC OHCI compatible chipset. I was wondering if this would bring in the same quality as the Texas instruments chipset for example. If it has no effect on video quality, does it only affect the speed at which data travels?

TIA

I don't know.. but I have/had 2 external firewire harddrives.. with the addin pci lucent firewire card.....

all I can say is that i took the harddrives outta the case... and made them internal..... there much much much faster now...

also, when unraring divx's........ the system would sometimes stop! I would get an error! saying random write error... seems as though the stress killed the driver or somethin..... I also ran sandra on the drives.... boooom- stressed it out and got the error...

I since said i'm sick of rebootin this damn drive.. actually 2 of them... so HOPEFULLY..its just my cheap pci card(lucent firewire card) and not somethin else.. i don't know what else it could be though
