I've been trying to make a custom slipstreamed unattended MCE install CD. In the process I've reinstalled a few times, but Ive only just noticed that I don't have any firewire controller in my device manager anymore! And there's no Unknown device either so it' not like it's missing a driver or anything.

Has anyone experienced this before?

A friend of mine who works in a PC shop said he'd lost the secondary IDE controller from his A8N-SLI deluxe too, and had been having other strange issues with the boards. This has been my first issue, otherwise the board has been really stable at high overclock :)

even in my wasted state i wouldnt have skipped that :) yes it is enabled.. i even tried disabling it, rebooting, enablnig it again as if i could somehow coax it back to life, no cigar.

there is more however! i can't beleive i didn't notice this before but along with firewire I also don't detect any PCI cards either! my Intel Pro/100 and my TV card will not detect! Is this all down to the southbridge? Does that control PCI devices including the onboard firewire?

If it's the motherboard.... ugh :( I hate transplanting mobos... reinstalling etc.. ugh ugh ugh! :(
