Firewire and PCI devices disappeared from my A8N-SLI!

I've been trying to make a custom slipstreamed unattended MCE install CD. In the process I've reinstalled a few times, but Ive only just noticed that I don't have any firewire controller in my device manager anymore! And there's no Unknown device either so it' not like it's missing a driver or anything.

Has anyone experienced this before?

A friend of mine who works in a PC shop said he'd lost the secondary IDE controller from his A8N-SLI deluxe too, and had been having other strange issues with the boards. This has been my first issue, otherwise the board has been really stable at high overclock

even in my wasted state i wouldnt have skipped that yes it is enabled.. i even tried disabling it, rebooting, enablnig it again as if i could somehow coax it back to life, no cigar.

there is more however! i can't beleive i didn't notice this before but along with firewire I also don't detect any PCI cards either! my Intel Pro/100 and my TV card will not detect! Is this all down to the southbridge? Does that control PCI devices including the onboard firewire?

If it's the motherboard.... ugh I hate transplanting mobos... reinstalling etc.. ugh ugh ugh!
