I have come to the conclusion that it is probably cheapest to just backup to an external drive. However, I haven't been too happy with the transfer rate on USB 2.0. Basically, I want something close to the transfer rate of a standard hard drive. This mean getting Firewire 1394b with double that of 1394a.
However, I don't see too many 1394b cards. Most motherboard with the exception of Gigabyte usually only carries 1394a. Most of the cards I see were for 64-bit PCI cards. What are my options right now if I want 1394b? Are there PCI-e cards?
