Firewire 1394 networking between two PCs

When both systems are running Win XP, the firewire network between my laptop and desktop work.

The transfer rate is at about 20% of the 400mbps. It this normal? It could be that my laptop has a slow hard drive or that my desktop has a slow CPU (P3-866 in my desktop and P4 2.8 HT in the laptop)

What transfer rate do you get if you are transferring large files between two computers using a firewire cable?

One more thing, I can't get the firewire networking to work with my XP laptop and the same desktop when it is boot into Win 2k. Win2k needs Firewire 1394 net adapter driver which I don?t' have.
Any work around?

Thanks.
