Firewalls to protect against hackers

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a good firewall. I have been gaming a lot and noticed that during all my gaming matches, I get very high ping. I think it may be due to hackers. My ping is normal EVERY other day during all times BUT during the matches so something fishy is going on. I was wondering what is the best firewall program to use. I had outpost firewall but it stopped me from accessing msn and stuff. I uninstalled it and was wondering if someone can recommend me some other better firewall where I don't have to go through the frustration of setting rules for every single program that accesses the internet.
