Firewall?

I have a SMC router with a cable modem. Do I need to istall software firewall? The router is supposed to be a hardware firewall.

I also would like to if there is someplace I can test to see if the firewall is working?

In my experience the hardware firewall for the barricade is very reliable, not any better than the linksys but still no problems.
 
ZoneAlarm does prevent spyware you downloaded from "phoning home", so there's one reason for you to install a software firewall like ZoneAlarm even with your hardware firewall in place...
 
Go ahead and get "zonealarm" for free...

Hardware based firewalls cover the first 3 layerrs of the OSI model....

Software based firewalls cover the remaining 4.....


You should be able to run both at same time without problems.
