Do they have pet GPS collars that show real time on the owner's website?

They apparently have WiFi that works out in the middle of the desert too, so you can access that web site no matter where you are :)

Well they could have been using 3G/EVDO etc. Heck he was big in the biz he probably had his own portable LEOSAT. :p

My aunt has a little neck thing for her dog. If he runs so many feet beyond the house (some station in there), the transmitter in the collar sends her text messages of the street he's on (using GPS)

Pretty darn nifty.

Edit: Dunno if you are sarcastic, but house arrest is when you are essentially "jailed" in your home. You can't leave, court ordered. Or can only go so far (like not out of the county). Little leg bracelet sends your location to the parole folks or whatever.

What prevents the wearer from removing it and putting it on a house pet? :Q

They wrap it around your ankle so it's tight and you can't remove. If you cut it, it will go off as it has wiring in the strap that would sense it's cut.

They aren't stupid.

Now THAT's first hand experience.

MS Dawn would of course see what frequency it is running on (doubtfull it's encrypted, if so probably weakly), duplicate the source with some good old tubes and be on her merry way.

Actually it would be easier not to do anything mandating so called house arrest. :p

You gotta have some fun now and then. Sometimes you get caught.

Now get on getting that key. Should be trivial.

I think on an episode of L&O:SVU a criminal on probation did just that and put it on his cat.

I did like the iPod + fax machine CCD. Clever for a movie, at least.

Real criminals are using nano's as a way to store ATM info. They put the device between the phone jack and the ATM and leave it there for a week and come back and pick it up. Everyone that used the ATM for the week has their account number and PIN stolen.
