This question is not my own but post it for a friend.

"Does anybody know of any third party utilities that will allow me to run it on various systems and detect if there is a firewall running?"
 
i dont know to be honest.

I think my friend is having problems with some of his customers encountering firewall issues with some software, and his customers usually cant answer and tell him what they have because they have no clue, so he is looking for a easy way to know if a firewall is installed.
 
This is a wonderful tool and will tell you if any ports are blocked. It can also be run on the system it is on by typing it's IP. You can't use "127.0.0.1".
 
i was gonna suggest nmap but i see thats already been taken care of. Excelent auditing tool.
