Firewall in SuSE linux 8.2

I got the firewall configured and running in SuSE 8.2, without a problem, using YAST. Now the next part may sound stupid, but I really liked when zone alarm lets me know on my windows box that it has blocked or logged a network intrusion or other event. Does anyone know if SuSE can do that type of auto notification? If not, does iptables keep a log of such events? Thx

What kind of notification are you looking for? With a little scripting know-how you can setup some things. And IPTables should keep a log. Check /var/log.

depending on how you configed iptables, such a notify feature can easily get annoying....my netfilter box drop/rejects well over a couple hundred packets on a daily average just from internet "noise" an other activities...so make sure that you only notifies you if a certain threshhold for an IP has been reached. may snort might work for you
